My beautiful friend Natalie Aspin is here modelling my skirt for a day look. i chose to do my photo shoot in this setting because i knew it would look amazing and i am so pleased with it! and it sounds silly but when i think of britian i think of red phone boxes especially when it comes to looking at the past and i really love how effective my garment looks in these traditional red phone box. Also with them being smashed up and damaged it looks even better. adding that edge to the set.

This is my final out come of the PVC skirt without the attatchment! let me just say i am so proud!! at times i have been so close to tears making this garment but it was so worth the stress!! this PVC fabric put me under a lot of preassure as once you go wrong there is no going back!! BUT I DID IT!! and it has gone exaclty how i imagined it. i found the waistband to be the hardes part as the pvc just kept twisting... but i did it!!!

WITH THE ATTACHMENT

moulaging the attachment was pretty easy. i practiced and practiced until i got the look that i want. it is a mixture of black and white netting as i wanted to create different shades. it is detachable by zip so you can feel free to take it off when ever you like!! here you have one day to night skirt in just a flick of a zip!!

once i had chosen my final design it was time to start on my toile. it is make from calico and netting. it is going to be a PVC skirt with a zip detailing at the bottom. it will also have a netting trim around the skirt! i have created a attatchement using netting. you can take the attachment off and zip it back on whenever you feel like you want to change the look. once you take it off it has a zip cover to cover up the zip which then looks like a little pocket. i found it quite easy creating the toile but i know it will be a challege when it comes to making the real thing.

Here are my final design boards! i am super super excited about these and i am so pleased with how they have turned out! i have used the same media that i have used in my book but also added a little splash of acrylic, black ink and glitter to the side of my page as i didnt want too much going on. I decided to call my collection pretty in punk becasue of the mixture of punk and new romantics as the new romantics is a little more pretty and fluffy with the netting, frills and lace where as punk is really tough and bold.

My chosen customer is a 22 year old Fashion student called Lucy Rance! i thought she was perfect to use as she is well known in the youtube and blogging industry and her style is exactly what im going for. she likes to be different and shops at high street, upper high street and has some one of designer pieces. she loves to shop on asos too which was a key aspect for me.

My mood board is jam packed with inspiration from the late 70's - early 80's and today punk fashion. i am really pleased with how my board has turned out as the layering of the images look really effective! we have david bowie, strawberry switch blade, madonna and boy george on there! i also have images of Jean Pauls Collections that i have used on their. My project is all about british punk and the new romantic fashion movement and this board deffinitley captures that inspiration.

THIS collection inspired my project massively! i absolutley love this exhibition. Chaos to Coututre was an exhibition that was held at the met gala in 2013 spring.it examines punks high impact on fashion from its birth in the early 1970's. it is a collaboration of many designers such as.. Vivienne Westwood, christopher bailey, Dolce and Gabbana, Viktor & Rolf, Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander Mcqueen and many many more! i just think the ideas and designs are amazing! they totally blew me away! here are some more pictures from the exhibition ...

i just love the explosion of neon colours with the tartan, spikes and grungy look its amazing.

Last but not least i have created a design inspired by this collection! it would be a black pvc skirt with a huge knitted draping all over the top! it would also have a harness attached to a belt to give a really punk grunge look. i have done a knitting sample and took photos to show how i would create the drapes over the skirt. i would really love to create this skirt however it wouldnt really be practical for the asos market as it would have to be hand knitted which could work out pretty expensive. and also the drapes would get caught on things.

The illustrator that inspired me the most was Tony Viramantes who is a late 70's early 80's fashion illustrator which i thought was perfect as those are the era's i am concertrating on. i really like how different the illustrations.. lots of shapes put together to create these wierd faces. Also as soon as i saw these illustrations it reminded me of boy george and how much makeup he wears. that is why most of my ilustrations have bright makeup and crazy hair.. not something you would have on a day to day basis but it looks really efective on my illustrations.

although this illustrator is really out there i had to tone it down a little to create my illustrations that why i have just taken the colour element and the use of black pen and only a little colour.

Here are some illustrations inspired by boy george. i chose to look at him becasue i love the clash of colour that he wore and how dramatic his makeup was. he was all about COLOUR. the first design is some baggy trouser pants. i really love the use of colour on these although you wouldnt wear them every day they are a huge statment piece and i know that my customer would be able to pull them off. she is all about statement pieces.. vintage and high street.

the seccond design is a pink skirt with red, yellow and green polka dots on.. i chose to create this because again it is a statement peice and my customer Lucy Rance really likes to wear different things... things people wouldnt usually wear and thats what i love about her. i also love the clash of colour on my design.

Last but not least this design  on the right of thhe picture is inspired by boy georges hair! i would make this skirt out of a leather material to add that punk edge to it. to illustrate these designs i have used a lot of pastel and bright acrylic paint to create the right shade of bright tones.

For this project i have also looked at this is england for inspiration as it was a huge part of the punk/ new romantic fashion movement. i did some primary research and drew these doc martens using pencil sketch as i wanted to focus on some pencil drawing. to develop this i also did samples using organza ans burning it and then embroiding it as shown in this picture.

To develop my drawing even more i created two designs using inspiration from this is england and my pencil sketch. on the first one it is a skirt with a waist band that has all the embroidary on that i practiced on the sample. the seccon design is a paair of red tartan tight trousers with a high waist. to illustrate this i used felt tips and glitter to add that glam to the punk theme.

This page is inspired by david bowie. this is the spring/summer collection from 2013 by Jean Paul Gauliter. i chose to use this because it had the perfect music artistis involved within the collection that i had already planned to look at within my project. i love the burst of colour too as it is the oposite from the punk inspiration as it is mostly dark colours.
i created by own print using inspiration from the outfit that the styled "look a like" david bowie was wearing on the catwalks

here is the image that i got my iseas from. i love this outfit as it is so different and probably wouldnt be worn on a day to day basis.

For this illustrtion i have created a red skirt with mesh pannels going across the bottom. the mesh pannels would have a star print. i have interpreted the print i created into my designs for further development experimenting with different ideas. i have chosen to crazy broght hair for these illustrations cause i feel that it suits my project really well not only that my customer changes her hair very often to bright colours she has had it pink, purple, green and blue! so i thought it would look very effective.

this illustration is inspired by madonna. i chose to look at madonna because she was very stylish around the early 80's. her style was also a mix between punk and new romantic with the black mesh top. here i have drawn madonna using pencil and pen. for my illustration i have used felt tips blending them with water. i chose to do this because i thought it looked really effective.  i have also illustrated the textures of the fabric.

here are some images from the spring summer 2011 collection inspired by punk movement by jean Paul Gaultier. this collection has inspired me massively throught this project! i love the huge frills, tartan drapes and bold and bright colours contrasting against black and white.

These next few designs are inspired by this collection with my own twist using inspiration from today styles. i really like this skirt design, its inspired by the dress you can see in the background of the page. it is a pvc skirt with a zip detailing at the bottom front  with netting attatched at the bottom. it also has an attatchment piece that you can un zip and take it off which changes the piece from a day to night outfit. i think this is one of my strongest designs and i can imagine the final outcome being really good. the media i have used is goucache acrylic and pastel pencils to create depth and texture.

This seccond design is a white pvc skirt with black faux fur wrapped around the skirt. i really like pvc as you can probably tell. i think it captures the punk inspiration really well. for this illustration i have experimented using collage and water colour paints. i really like how my illustrations have turned out as they really suit the project i am doing.

The third illustration is again inspired by the collection but also vivienne westwood. it is again a red Pvc skirt with a mesh pannel at the knee. it also has a faux fur trim around the bottom of the skirt. the media i have used is acrylic and pastel. i have also added pva glue to the skirt to make it have a shine to it for the PVC texture.

So first of all im going to start with showing you my project and where i intend to go with it! i am super excited about this project as i love PUNK! and everything about it its so interesting! collections that have inspired me the most are Jean paul Gaultiers collections! the one from 2011 which was for the spring/summer season and the spring/summer collection from 2013 inspired by music artists such as david bowie, boy george and madonna. i thought these collections were perfect as the punk thesed one from 2011 is so dramatic! but yet as i am looking at the late 70 early 80s the collection from 2013 spring summer is also a good one as i am looking at the new romantic movement from music artists such as madonna, david bowie and boy george.

My first illustration development page is focused on an early 1980's pop/rock band called strawberry switchblade. i chose to look at the fashion these two girls wear as it is super crazy! you can certainly see the new romantic fashion movement in the pictures i have chosen to use. i really like the mix match patterns, frills and bold colours because i know it will be great mixing both the punk and new romantic movements as one is very fluffy where as the other is very bold and dramatic.

this illustration on the right is inspired by an illustrator called lauren gasperlin who i discovered on instagram. i really like her work as it is very different. however i have only taken her use of lines and just using pen as media but i have used the strawberry switchblade girls to inspire the outfit and hair.

This illustration here is inspired by OF COURSE THE QUEEN OF PUNK VIVIENNE WESTWOOD! i just knew it would be stupid of me not to use her to inspire parts of my collection because her work is just amazing! i love the craziness of her outfits and how different they are. i mainly used vivienne westwood to inspire the hair on this illustration. i have used pastel and pen to illustrate the outfit and hair which i am really pleased about because the texture looks really effective.
