The illustrator that inspired me the most was Tony Viramantes who is a late 70's early 80's fashion illustrator which i thought was perfect as those are the era's i am concertrating on. i really like how different the illustrations.. lots of shapes put together to create these wierd faces. Also as soon as i saw these illustrations it reminded me of boy george and how much makeup he wears. that is why most of my ilustrations have bright makeup and crazy hair.. not something you would have on a day to day basis but it looks really efective on my illustrations.
although this illustrator is really out there i had to tone it down a little to create my illustrations that why i have just taken the colour element and the use of black pen and only a little colour.
Here are some illustrations inspired by boy george. i chose to look at him becasue i love the clash of colour that he wore and how dramatic his makeup was. he was all about COLOUR. the first design is some baggy trouser pants. i really love the use of colour on these although you wouldnt wear them every day they are a huge statment piece and i know that my customer would be able to pull them off. she is all about statement pieces.. vintage and high street.
the seccond design is a pink skirt with red, yellow and green polka dots on.. i chose to create this because again it is a statement peice and my customer Lucy Rance really likes to wear different things... things people wouldnt usually wear and thats what i love about her. i also love the clash of colour on my design.
Last but not least this design on the right of thhe picture is inspired by boy georges hair! i would make this skirt out of a leather material to add that punk edge to it. to illustrate these designs i have used a lot of pastel and bright acrylic paint to create the right shade of bright tones.
